Low Carb Beer: The Craze Over It

There is such a thing as low carb beer.

Low carb beer is basically a beer type which has low carbohydrate figures. With low carb being the buzzword of what's what with dieting today, low carb beers stand testament to the fact that people are getting, with just reason too, more aware of what they eat and drink, keeping themselves fit in the process.

Be one on Atkins, South Beach or Zone, low carb is the in deal, even with beer.

Be beers be called Light, Low Carb Beer, Ultra Light Beer or Ultra Beer, the point is these beers have lower carbohydrate figures, compared to "regular" beer types. On a general scale, regular beer contains 9 to 15 grams of carbs, 145 calories, light beers contain 7-12 grams of carbs, 88-110 calories, while low carb beers contain less than 7 grams of carbes, 88-110 calories.

With regards the views of beer drinkers over low carb beers, opinions are varied, with some saying low carb beer just don't quite cut, while others say low carb beer is the way to go. Some view low carb beer as drinks for those who are simply interested in taking in low carbs, while others just don't see the pont of low carb beers in existence. Bottom line, beer breweries are constantly rising to the challenges of the whole low carb diet craze, introducing, as well as taking out, new blends of beer into the market.

As the low-carb craze is raging into everything now, low carb beers stand as testaments as to just how deep the low carb craze has infiltrated the world. Boasting of lower calories and lesser carbohydrates, low carb beers stand to be quite appealing to those aiming to lessen their "beer guts".

Here is a sample general breakdown, comparing regular beer from low carb beers:

    Regular Beers

Budweiser contains 10.6 grams of carbs, 143 calories. Miller Genuine Draft has 13.1 grams of carbs, 143 calories. Heineken has 9.8 grams of carbs, 166 calories.

    Low Carb Beers

Bud Light contains 6.6 grams of carbs, 110 calories with 4.2% alcohol content. Coors Light contains 5 grams of carbs, 102 calories and 4.2% alcohol content. Corona Light contains 5 grams of carbs, 105 calories and 4.5% alcohol content. Miller Light has 3.2 grams cabrs, 96 calories and 4.5% alcohol content.

Bottom line, the lower the carbs, the lower the calories, but not necessarily the lower the waistline. Cortisol could be activated by alcohol which can induce one to gain weight, depending on low carb beers to be part of one's diet plan isn't exactly the right way to go.

If one's ultimate goal is to loose weight, one should simply let go of the alcohol. If this isn't an option, low carb beers are always there.
