Herbal Diuretic
From such fact, herbal diuretic emerged as one of the best options for losing excess fluid in the body so to prevent the onset of several serious illnesses. However, one should know that herbal diuretics are not at all advantageous. Herbal diuretics, just like some the prescription diuretics, are of course responsible for losing excess fluids but they tend to flush some vital minerals from our body. But still herbal diuretics persist as the much better option than over-the-counter diuretic prescriptions. To mention, one of the most widely noted herbal diuretics is an herb known as Uva ursi. This herbal diuretic is basically derived from the leaves of the bearberry tree and it has a long history of effective use. In fact, from the Middle Ages, numerous herbals indicate that Uva ursi was a reliable herbal diuretic that is effectively applied in urinary infection. And by the end of the 1700s, this certain herbal diuretic had become official in the London Pharmacopoeia. Furthermore, Uva ursi contains arbutin, which is a natural chemical that enhances the urine output. Aside from its diuretic value, it is also applied for the treatment of wounds and vaginal infections. It is considered from many studies that this remedy has an important valuable cleansing action on the genitor-urinary system and so it is suggested as a postpartum diuretic. Aside from Uva ursi, an herb known as horse chestnut is also considered as one of the best options for losing excess amounts of water in the body. It contains two active constituents, the aescin and aesculine, which have demonstrated moderate diuretic activity. Outside from being herbal diuretic, horse chestnut is also widely used to promote leg vein circulation for many years. It is responsible for protecting against reducing leg swelling and so far, there has no known side effects of this herbal diuretic. Here came another herbal diuretic known as Buchu, which is an herb indigenous to South Africa. Just like the Uva ursi, this herb also has a long history of use as diuretic. And it is greatly considered from some resources that the leaves of this herb are processed into supplements that are marketed for the regulation of water balance. Finally, among the more familiar herbal diuretics are birch tree, butcher's broom, cola nut, dandelion root, horsetail, and juniper berry. These mentioned herbs are also responsible for regulating water balance in the body. |
